Loss of a CISD Student Notification

Cayuga Wildcat Family,

It is with immense sadness and sorrow in my heart that I share the loss of one of our Cayuga Middle School students as a result of injuries sustained in an ATV four wheeler accident today Thursday September 3, 2026. Two additional students were hospitalized.

Word travels fast in our area of East Texas. Many, if not most, are likely already aware of this terrible tragedy. As we collectively grieve the loss of this remarkable young person, please know that in this time of crisis you are not alone. Our hearts are with this student’s family as they navigate this unimaginable loss. We also know that grief reaches far beyond the family. This student’s friends, classmates, teachers, staff, and many others will feel the impact. We must rally to provide the type of support in this time of need that makes our community truly special.

Tomorrow, on Friday September 4th, administrators will meet with staff and students to communicate factual information and offer guidance through this time of sadness and grief.

Ministers, professional grief counselors, and other support personnel from the Anderson County Special Education Cooperative and the mental health service ACCESS will be on hand to assist students through this difficult process. We walk together as a unified Wildcat family. We are prepared to help uplift each other.

We know how hard this will be on the siblings of this close knit family. As funerary arrangements are decided these will be communicated and shared via our social media platforms. Please surround this family with your love and compassion. Our current prayer asks for the healing of the two other students involved, and that a peace beyond understanding aids us all in coping with the hurt and pain.
